Review:Relish the warm days of summer after the sun goes down beside this attractive new outdoor gas fireplace from Weber. 0utfitted with the same quality materials and technology as Weber affords its renowned liquid propane barbecues, the Flame Fireplace brings the glow of a campfire into urban settings without the all-permeating stench of wood smoke. With three clear sides, the outdoor fireplace offers a great centerpiece at a small party or barbecue.
Crafted with durable cast aluminum trim and a weather- and heat- resistant base, the fireplace comes equipped with three removable weather shields to avert internal rusting from the damp elements. For enhanced appearance and ambiance, Weber provides a 5-pound bag of lava rocks and eight removable ceramic logs. The fully assembled grill travels on two crack-proof wheels with ease. A stainless steel burner heats the fireplace at 62,000 BTUs per hour. A push-button starter ignites the fireplace and heats can be monitored on a heat gauge. A standard 20-pound liquid propane tank powers the fireplace for approximately eight hours. Propane is not included with the fireplace. To ensure user safety, avoid leaving the fireplace unattended while burning. A one-year warranty covers this item. The outdoor fireplace measures 35-1/2 by 34-1/2 by 34-1/2 inches and weighs 128 pounds upon shipping.

Hit of the neighorhood!!!
Easy to assemble. Looks awesome. When you tell someone "let's have a fire", they immediately think looking for kindling, getting firewood, smelling like smoke, and waiting until it can be doused at the end of the night. Not with the Weber Flame. Turn on the gas, turn the button to high, push the ignition button.... instant fire. The ceramic logs make it look real, and the lava rocks produce plenty of heat along witht the flames. Crack open a bottle (or two) of wine, whip out the s'mores ingredients and have a great night. When it is all done, turn the dial to off, shut the gas off and install the weather guards....simple. No smell of smoke, no worry of embers while sitting by the fire. Everyone that has seen it absolutely loves it. They all ask me where the propane tank is, because it is "hidden" in the back of the unit under a nice vinyl cover. Found the Weber Flame cover on e-bay for under $26.00 shipped and I highly recommend it. We used to go to everyone elses yards for evenings of conversation, but now they are coming to our place.... life is sweet and the Weber Flame makes it sweeter. Gotta go, the Weber Flame calls.....

FIRE!
Purchased three weeks ago and love it so far. Easy to assemble and even easier to operate. It's well constructed and works as advertised. It does seem to go through the propane much faster than the grill, but the flame is larger and is generally left on for hours at a time. At this cost, it should come with the cover rather than having us dig in for another $45 for the fitted Weber one. Overall, we're happy though.

Nice but difficult to assemble
After reading reviews and comparing prices I selected this model. With amazon Prime I didnt pay s/h fees so purchasing it here was a great deal. This unit arrived in one large box. Moved the fireplace piece by piece onto the patio. The wheels on the heavy base made it easy to move across the dirt and concrete. I am 110 pounds and did not find it too heavy. Assembly instructions were pretty clear. The most difficult step was screwing the hood vent supports to the base. The holes did not match up. After struggling for more than an hour I was able to get three out of four supports attached to the base. The only way to attach the last support was to secure one screw from the inside of the base, rather than the outside as the instructions described. The rest was easy.
The unit lit up just fine. Yes, there is noise. That whooshing, hissing sort of noise from the gas. Not really bothersome but it is noticeable. The fireplace emits a lot of heat on high. No problems lighting or extinguishing the flame.
I also bought the cover. Fits nicely over the fireplace and helps to keep it clean.
Other than the extreme difficulty in attaching the supports it is a good product.

A great product for the deck!!
Also after reading the reviews, I was a bit worried about the noise issues mention.
I am VERY VERY happy with my unit. There is not really any 'noise' more than the flames and slight gas pressure sounds (and my hearing is sensitive). It is not at all an issue in my opinion. In fact, my fire pole (yes the Weber warms the front and the fire pole warms the back) is probably more noisy than the Weber.
It came fine UPS tho supposedly I had to sign for it. My UPS driver is great and even though I was not home, he put it in my garage (I may have a 'signed release' over the years but I think it is more my GREAT UPS driver).
I unpacked it and moved all the parts load by load to the deck alone. The large bottom is the heavy part and the wheels were a great option! I wheeled it across the gravel drive (not toooo easy but it worked) then on the grass (worked GREAT). Up the stairs and onto the deck was the only lifting I had to do. Granted I do not plan to move it now that it is put together and the LP tank is connected.
I was VERY PLEASED with the LP tank connection feature. The unit has a 'hanging bracket' on the back of the fire pit (behind the solid black screen on that side). You simply hang the LP tank and there is a gauge based on weight that tells you how much LP you have left! Pretty clever of Weber to incorporate two features into one.
The unit lights VERY VERY easily. The first time I used it the flames were 'so so' but the second time (extended use) it became PERFECT. I think a lot depends on how you put the lava rock down (single layer and not all right on top of the holes). It REALLLLY looked like a real fire the second time I used it with yellow flames going very high into the unit (not high enough to have to worry about it tho).
I am VERY pleased with the unit. I note that the previous reviews are from 2006 so there may have been some improvements since then and my June 2007 purchase.
The only part I miss compared to a real fire or a gas fire in the house is the lack of 'glowing embers' at the base of the fire. I can see however the reason these were not included as they are light weight material and would tend to blow out of the unit when operated outside.
Now I gotta start stocking marshmallows in the house for the evenings by the Weber fire pit! Some-mores??? Well a nice scotch also works!
